BT completes roll-out of boiler-load optimisers

Sabien, boiler load optimiser
Now saving energy at 246 BT sites, Sabien’s intelligent boiler-load optimiser.

BT has completed a £1.2 million contract with Sabien for the installation of M2G boiler-load optimisers at 246 sites. The roll-out followed a programme of measurement and verification at three sites which showed energy savings of 8 to 13%. The savings were also verified by BT’s energy and environment team using metered data.

The ability of M2G to work alongside existing building-management systems (including demand control, sequencing and variable-temperature control) is a key requisite for organisations. M2G saves energy by preventing boiler dry cycling to make up for heat losses from the boiler and distribution system — an inherent problem found in many commercial boilers, regardless of age and size of the boiler.

Alan O’Brien, CEO of Sabien, said, ‘The BT project is a great example of how M2G plays an important role alongside traditional building controls. We are delighted with this project, not just because of the levels of savings achieved, but our capabilities of delivering a project across such a large estate.’
