WEMS communications modules can be wired or wireless

The WEMS MX flexible I/O system for building energy management systems now has a host of new additions. At the core of the system, WEMS has introduced a range of hybrid (wireless or wired) communication modules . Also added are BACnet gateways so these modules can be used with third-party BMSs, such as those provided by Tridium, Trend, Schneider or Cylon.

The MX I/O range is made up using clusters of DIN-rail-mounted modules that can communicate using the WEMS platform or with a third-party BMS using a BACnet gateway.

Each module is dedicated to an I/O function — such as digital inputs, thermistor inputs, analogue inputs analogue outputs, relay outputs and communications.

There are three wireless frequencies, which can be mixed on the same cluster to create a long-distance backbone of up to 3 km between wireless devices.

Among the new wireless sensors is a differential-pressure sensor for air-handling units. The data can be used to provide conditional alarms for faults with supply fans or filters.
