Retrofit ‘door’ removes heat from server cabinets

Retrofit cooling for server cabinets — Knürr’s CoolAdd has a cooling capacity of 8 kW.
Knürr has introduced a replacement for the rear door of server cabinets that incorporates a water-cooled system with a capacity of 8 kW. CoolAdd is easily retrofitted to existing cabinet installations and absorbs 8 kW of heat from the air leaving a cabinet, delivering it to the room at the same temperature as it entered the front of the cabinet. As an example, air entering the front of a cabinet at 22°C and being heated to 35°C would require a CoolAdd door with chilled water supplied at 14°C and returning at 20°C. These cooled doors can replace the rear door of a 19 in cabinet from 45 U upwards. The depth of a CoolAdd door is 162 mm, and it weighs 41 kg. Retrofitted units retain normal door opening and security.
