Oventrop valves cut times at Withington Community Hospital

Withington
Princess Anne visits the new Withington Community Hospital to mark its official opening. Heating and cooling systems make extensive use of Oventrop valves.
Among a wide range of Oventrop valves installed in heating and cooling systems in the new Withington Community Hospital in south Manchester are Cocon 4 multi-functional control valves for fan-coil units. These valves are installed on 34 FCUs and incorporate a 4-port valve for proportional control of room temperature, fixed-orifice measuring points, a double-regulation feature, drain, isolation and filling functions. The provision of six functions in a single valve can reduce installation time by up to 25%. Oventrop valves are used for a range of other functions. Some 220 000 people a year are expected to use the new hospital, which is designed to relieve pressure on nearby emergency departments and cut waiting times for patients referred for surgery. Patients do not stay overnight. The rooftop plant room contains boilers and ancillaries, with air-cooled chillers in an adjacent external enclosure. Chilled water serves 4-pipe fan-coil units, four air-handling units and cooler batteries. Heating is with radiators, radiant panels, underfloor heating oils and fan coils.
