Controls association looks to broaden its membership base

To provide a wider forum for people in the industry with an interest in building controls, BCIA (the Building Controls Industry Association) has introduced an associate membership category. It is aimed at consultants, contractors, architects and building owners and occupiers. Doug Robins, president of BCIA, explains, ‘Our aim is to encourage greater dialogue between the BCIA and those professions close to our members. Associate membership has been tailored for the individual and offers benefits in reduced rates for our technical-training programme, up-to-date information via our newsletter and the web site (including free downloads), attendance at our regular members’ meetings, excellent networking opportunities — and much more.’ BCIA represents an amalgamation of UK manufacturers of building controls and leading systems installers. Together, they are responsible for a major slice of the £530 million home market incorporating products, installed systems and service and maintenance.
