Energy and environmental sessions featured in a day for teachers and year-nine students from a school in Birmingham held by MITIE at its skills centre in Birmingham. The MITIE team worked with guests from Castle Vale School & Performing Arts Centre on a variety of activities to help students develop new skills and prepare for the world of work. Other activities included designing a school newsletter, interviewing techniques and designing a new school badge. Clive Owen, the school head, says, ‘Working alongside experienced employees from MITIE will enable our students to gain a real insight into the world of work and employment. Similarly, MITIE employees take a lot from this experience and appreciate the enormous talent our young people can offer a company like theirs in the future. This project is a first for our school, but I doubt it will be the last.’
