LED downlighter uses 80% less energy

Using LEDs as the light source in this downlighter reduces energy consumption by 80% compared with conventional downlights.
Downlighters using LEDs as the light source and using 80% less energy than a conventional MR16 luminaire have been tested by BSI. As a result these luminaires from EcoLEDLighitng fully comply with Part L of the Building Regulations. Two types of LED downlights were tested (Dimmable and non-dimmable) for lumen output, lumens per watt, power factor and total harmonic distortion and photometric performance. These fittings also run 85% cooler than an conventional MR16 luminaire. The range offers a substitute for dichroic and halogen downlights These new EcoLEDLighitng luminaires are recyclable and have low maintenance requirements. There is no filament to break and they come with a 6-year guarantee. The company is developing other luminaires using LEDs, including a replacement for fluorescent light fittings.
