Socket tester also checks earth-loop impedance

Martindale
Costing less than £50, this circuit tester from Martindale checks earth-loop impedance.
Martindale’s E-ZE 150 electrical socket tester gives an accurate indication of earth-loop impedance — as well as wiring faults such as a reversed phase and neutral, reversed phase and earth, open earth etc. These testers are shaped like a plug top and cost less than £50. They enable the earth in an electrical installation to be pretested by an apprentice. They can also be used to check if damage has occurred to an earth circuit — without tripping RCDs. The impedance of the earth loop is indicated in bands of 0, 1.7, 5, 10, 100, 200 and 500 Ω.
