Shouksmith’s completes second project for Unite

David Shouksmith, project manager with building-services company Shouksmiths give a final once-over to its latest ‘complete package’ project. Concept House in Leeds was completed for main contractors Carillon and client Unite, the UK’s largest provider of student hospitality and accommodation. This 391-bed property on Park Land is in an excellent location for all universities and colleges in the city. It has a dedicated on-site hospitality-management team. Facilities include en-suite bedrooms, all with fully fitted kitchens and lounge areas. There are also laundry, Internet and storage facilities. This project follows the successful completion of The Plaza for the same client and main contractor. Shouksmiths was the preferred M&E contractor for the £2 million follow-on contract to design and install the complete package of building services for Concept House — using the same site team and project manager. David Shouksmith comments, ‘It is a well proven fact in the construction industry that using the same team to deliver follow-on projects increases efficiency and keeps down costs. Our experience on The Plaza project was indispensable to our work on Concept House.’
