GSH partners with BEST on apprenticeship programme

Training provider BEST (Building Engineering Services Training) has set up a training partnership with GSH Group that has resulted in 13 new apprentices starting a service and maintenance programme based at Stoke on Trent College. This group adds to the four apprentices who started earlier in the year at North Glasgow College. This training partnership between BEST and GSH Group will see an annual intake of up to 15 service and maintenance apprentices and confirms a major commitment and strategic emphasis of skills development arising from it. Chris McLain, co-chief executive officer with GSH, comments, ‘We have always recognised the value of apprenticeships and the impact they have on our business, not only in terms of staff recruitment, particularly in a notable area of skill shortage, but also for staff development and retention. Although the programme requires a large investment from the business, the benefits do far outweigh the investment. ‘We know that by offering training and development programmes such as these, we can develop the highest calibre of GSH staff, ensuring that our clients receive the best-quality service — something that we are even more mindful of in times of economic uncertainty.
