Victaulic introduces 2-piece pipe couplings for larger sizes

Victaulic, pipe couplings

Victaulic has added to its advanced grooved pipe-jointing system (AGS) for large-diameter pipes. Rigid and flexible couplings are now available for pipes up to 60 in (1525 mm) diameter. Joints that would require several hours to weld can be installed in less than an hour using AGS couplings. They are available in diameters from 14 to 60 in (350 to 1525 mm) — compared with 14 to 24 in (350 to 610 mm) previously.

These joints comprise a 2-piece housing and a wedge-shaped groove and are rated at up to 24 bar, depending on pipe size and wall thickness. Until now, jointing methods for larger pipes required multiple housings to achieve the same result.

Larger AGS coupling housings have lifting lugs. AGS couplings also have a union at every joint to provide easy access for maintenance and system retrofits. Assembly is complete when housings are metal-to-metal and torque requirements have been met.
