Business award for management buyout company

Having just completed a major renewable-energy project, Revolution Power of Newton Aycliffe in County Durham won the environmental category in this year’s Best New Business Awards Tees Valley, with the judges describing the company as ‘God’s gift to heat pumps’.

The recently completed 5-month project for English Churches Housing Group in Middlesbrough, involved the installation of 70 kW of air-source heat pumps to provide about 60% of the heating requirement and 18 solar thermal panels to provide up to 70% of the development’s hot water.

Managing director Wayne Richardson completed a management buyout of the company in April 2009 and has taken the company back into profit and almost doubled manpower, helping to win the award. He says, ‘It’s a big pat on the back for all of us who pulled together after the company was hit hard by the recession, picked it up and dusted it off. We have turned the company around, turning it into a profit-making, happy place to work and are taking on interesting projects.’
