CSA launches NVQ3 qualification

Commissioning Specialists Association, training
The first three candidates to complete the NVQ3 qualification in installation and commissioning are presented with their certificates of completion by Nick Till (back), chairman of the Commissioning Specialists Association. They are from End Systems.

The commissioning industry has received a major boost with the introduction of the NVQ3 qualification in installation and commissioning. It is the result of several years of work to enhance the standing of the Commissioning Specialists Association’s own distance-learning course and gives the commissioning community a nationally recognised qualification.

The programme is an online course of five modules.

• Complying with statutory regulations and organisational safety requirements.
• Using engineering drawings and documentation in installation and commissioning.
• Working efficiently and effectively in engineering.
• Handover and confirming compliance of installation and commissioning.
• Commissioning heating and ventilating equipment and systems.

Each module has performance and knowledge criteria overseen by a qualified assessor.

This NVQ builds on the grading and standard set by the CSA to ensure well trained engineers who can provide the level of service and expertise expected from the commissioning industry.

Nick Till, chairman of CSA, said, ‘I hope with the inception of this nationally recognised qualification, the perception of commissioning will be elevated to a greater level in the eyes of the construction industry as a whole.
