Fire protection for above-ground plastic drainage

Polypipe Terrain, plastic drainage, fire protection

Polypipe Terrain’s range of passive fire-protection products is designed for drainage stacks in above-ground applications. These products comply with BS476 and enable the specification of Terrain drainage systems that conform to the requirements of Part B of the Building Regulations.

The Terrain Firetrap range includes sleeves and collars.

Sleeves provide a cost-effective way of stopping the spread of fire via pipe penetrations in walls and floors. Heat causes the sleeve to expand between the pipe and the penetration, crushing the plastic drainage pipe until it closes off completely. They offer up to 4 h fire protection.

Collars are designed to reinstate the fire resistance of a wall or floor that has been penetrated by plastic soil and waste pipes. They protect pipework either side of the partition and are suitable for concrete, masonry and plasterboard partitions.

Sleeves can be fitted to protect pipes from 50 to 160 mm and offer protection of 2 to 4 h depending on the installation method.

Collars are available in sizes from 50 to 315 mm and offer 2 h fire protection.
