Durapipe ensures fuel delivery to hospital back-up generators

Durapipe, fuel supply
The vital task of delivering fuel to back-up generators at Whiston Hospital has been entrusted to Durapipe’s PLX pipework

Durapipe’s PLX pipework system has been installed to carry fuel from storage tanks to backup generators at the new Whiston Hospital on Merseyside. This secondary contained pipe-in-pipe system was used in sizes 100/160 mm, 90/160 mm and 63/110 mm to transport fuel and in a 90 mm single-wall version for the filling lines for the fuel storage tanks.

The PLX pipework was selected for its high performance properties. A visible polyamide line provides increased resistance to all types of fuel blends, and its robust polyethylene material provides exceptional resistance to rapid crack propagation and long-term stress cracking.

This £338 million PFI project contains over 800 beds, the latest diagnostic facilities in radiology and cardiology, a regional specialist burns and plastic-surgery unit and the full range of acute in-patient, emergency and out-patient services.
