SCS delivers fire safety for ‘largest’ shopping centre

SCS Group has completed a £275 000 contract for the design and installation of mechanical and natural smoke-ventilation systems for the £1.5 billion Westfield Stratford City shopping — the largest shopping centre in Europe. It has an area of 176 000 m2 and will include over 300 shops at three levels — including John Lewis, Marks & Spencer and Waitrose.

During a 4-month period, SCS fitted three UniForce shaft and 12 UniVent system across 15 blocks of this retail development. In the event of a fire, they will draw smoke away from stairwells and allow almost smoke-free access for emergency services to fight the fire.
