Repeat business for Hamworthy at sports centre

Hamworthy, DHW, domestic hot water
Good service from a Hamworthy water heater in this sports centre has seen it replaced by another Hamworthy unit

Years of satisfactory service from a Hamworthy water heater in Dorking Sports centre has led to it being replaced by ... another Hamworthy water heater. The centre is managed by Leisure Connections, alongside Mole Valley District Council, and DR-LA water heaters were installed to achieve as like-for-like replacement as possible. The DR-LA range is available with a choice of draught diverter; for this project, the horizontal flue take-off easily matched the existing flue system.

A model with a continuous output of 1427 l/h was selected and operates with the existing water heater to supply all domestic hot water for the centre. There are 32 showers and 40 hot-water tamps around the building. There is also a 25 m swimming pool and a toddler’s splash pool.

The facilities are particularly busy in the early evening of Monday to Friday, placing extra demands on the hot-water system.

The DR-LA range is designed to meet the latest HSC requirements for controlling legionella. Connections are provided to facilitate top to bottom recirculation to ensure an even temperature is maintained throughout the heater, preventing stratification.
