Oventrop secures Leeds Business School project

Oventrop, valves
Oventrop valves have been installed throughout this new building of Leeds Business School to control M&E Services.

The £50 million Rose Bowl building at Leeds Business School makes use of a full array of Oventrop valves to control M&E services, which include active chilled beams. The 5-storey building is part of Leeds Metropolitan University and includes lecture theatres, teaching areas, offices, conference and catering facilities.

M&E contractor NG Bailey specified these valves for their cost and flexibility. Valves installed include TRVs and all those on the heating and chilled-water systems, pump arrangement and strainers. Buro Happold of Leeds provided a detailed design for NG Bailey.

The plant room contains a gas-fired CHP unit, three gas-fired boilers and two chillers.

Some offices and administration facilities are on the lower ground floor, and there are two levels of car park below ground where NG Bailey installed pipework services and valves leading to the ground floor.

Parts of the domestic-hot-water circuit are equipped with Aquastrom T Plus multi-function secondary-circulation regulating valves to simplify commissioning and save energy by controlling temperature and flow. Using these valves eliminates cold dead legs and the risk of legionella growth.
