Passive House designers pass the one-thousand mark

The number of Certified Passive House Designers has passed the thousand mark — just four years since the scheme was introduced by the Passive House Institute. The number of certified designers is doubling every year.

46 course providers around the world are licensed to offer seminars covering the key Passive House design principles. Prof. Dr Wolgang Feist, director of the Passive House Institute, explains, ‘The courses help designers improve the quality of their buildings so that today’s buildings will meet the future requirements established in the 2020 European Energy Performance of Buildings Directive.

All certified designers must present a quality-approved Passive House construction project every five years to get their certificate renewed. The certification of the building serves as an independent and competent verification of the building’s quality.
