Energy minister praises Efficient Air’s data-centre initiative

Energy Minister Charles Hendry (right), Efficient Air’s local MP in Sussex, recently visited the company’s launch of the its energy-reduction programme and waste-heat transfer technology at the Uckfield head office. He is pictured with Efficient Air’ founder Darren Bryant.

He was particularly impressed by the way Efficient Air is tackling the energy-thirsty data-centre sector with its Sphere energy-saving programme. Mr Hendry said, ‘When I heard that this sector alone consumes up to 3% of electricity in the UK, my eyes were really opened to the potential of a well co-ordinated energy-saving programme. Compared with the cost of bringing new power stations on board or even renewables, this has got to make good sense.’

The Sphere service is designed to optimise the cooling infrastructure of existing data centres. A survey may include a detailed analysis of the chiller, heat-rejection plant, internal configuration of the data centre and air-flow distribution.
