Acoustic drainage answers monastery’s prayers
Helping to maintain the silence for a new monastery in Worcestershire is a bespoke acoustically insulated drainage system from Polypipe Terrain. The system was installed by Mechanical Installation Heating Services, whose Roger Holbrook comments: ‘Noise reduction was vital to the success of this project. Silence is of the utmost importance in a monastery, so right from the design stage, we needed to ensure that the products we used would reduce internal noise.’
The system is based on the Terrain Acoustic dB12 drainage solution, a triple-layer system with acoustically insulated fittings designed to reduce the effect of noise. The system substantially exceeds the sound performance required by Building Regulations.
Adam Turk, Polypipe Terrain’s sales and marketing director, says, ‘It was particularly pleasing to provide a solution for this project as it’s not often we see new monasteries being built. It’s one of the more unusual buildings we’ve worked on, and it certainly underlines the versatility of our product range.’
