Downstairs upstairs for chiller plant
The ability of Climaveneta UK (formerly Walter Meier) to disassemble chillers and reassemble them on site proved invaluable in replacing an aging chiller at Hertford Magistrates Court. The chilled-water system provides comfort cooling, and the previous aging chiller was proving unreliable and inefficient. Contractor CCS Air Conditioning was appointed to install a new chillers.
Luke Niedzielski of CCS explains, ‘The old chiller was enclosed on the roof so to avoid major building works, it was necessary to dismantle it and carry it down several flights of stairs. Similarly, the new chiller had to be carried up to the roof in pieces and reassembled in situ within quite a tight space.
A scroll-compressor chiller was selected for its compact footprint to deliver the required cooling capacity and variable-speed control for optimum energy efficiency.
The Climaveneta team has a proven track record of dismantling and reassembling chillers. Luke Niedzielski says, ‘The project went very smoothly with no problems, despite the challenges presented by the narrow staircases.’
