A programmable electronic radiator thermostat from Danfoss has a digital display and simple pushbutton programming to control temperature and time settings. Called Living eco, it has pre-installed programs that make it easy for the installer to set to suit a customer’s needs. One program maintains a constant temperature 24 h a day. Two other settings will lower the temperature at predefined periods of the day and regulate heating to suit the user.

These thermostats also respond to a significant drop in room temperature, such as might be caused by a window being opened, by closing the valve. There is also a holiday function to reduce the temperature if a home is not occupied for a period of time.

According to Danfoss, replacing old radiator thermostats with Living eco can reduce heating bills by up to 15%, based on studies of typical UK heating systems.

Two AA alkaline batteries have a 2-year life. Control is via three buttons on the front.
