Carrier director takes giant leap for charity

As we went to press, Paul Lawrence of Carrier was planning to abseil down The Shard in London with HRH The Duke of York and Ffion Hague. it was scheduled to take place on 3 September to raise money for the Commando Spirit Appeal on behalf of the Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund. Paul Lawrence is Carrier’s sales and business-development director.

Carrier supplied building-management controls to the project, and this event launches his participation in the Commando Spirit Appeal, which has pledged to raise £1 million by 2014. He is one of 20 people who will abseil 250 m from the summit of the building at the 87th floor down to the 20th floor.

Future tasks include Take the Leap, Survive the Yomp and Escape the Dunker — challenges that mirror tasks Royal Marines must complete to become a commando.
