Fastlane AHU caters for 2012 Olympics catering

At the heart of the catering facilities for the media centre of the London 2012 Olympic Games is a Fastlane AHU supplying air to the kitchen that served 50 000 meals a day.

Playing a role in providing 50 000 meals a day to broadcasters, photographers and journalists in the International Broadcast Centre and Main Press Centre for the London 2012 Olympic Games was a Fastlane air-handling unit providing supply ventilation for the kitchens — part of the 12 000 m2 catering village. The 24-hour media hub housed the latest IT facilities, along with a 200 m-long ‘high street’ with banks, newsagents, travel agents and a Post Office. There was also a transport mall providing a drop-off facility and car parking.

Blake Mansell, general manager of Fastlane Ventilation, commented, ‘We are delighted to have been involved on such a prestigious project. Deadlines don’t get much bigger than the opening of the Olympic Games, so, like other suppliers to the Olympic Park, our ability to respond quickly was vital.

The air-handling unit was supplied to national ductwork contractor Boyd & Co. (Metal Workers) via distributor Angus-Air, which has supplied Fastlane air-handling equipment for over 10 years.
