Legionella control helpline

Guardian Water Treatment, Legionella, DHW

Following the banning of the marketing and use of elemental copper as a biocide for water treatment, notably for the control of legionella bacteria, Guardian Water Treatment has set up a dedicated telephone advice line for anyone wanting to understand a range of alternative systems. Copper is banned under the Biocidal Products Directive and the national Biocidal Products Regulations 2001, which implement the European directive in Great Britain.

Guardian advises that as the law now stands, such systems must be replaced by lawful methods of controlling legionella bacteria.
