Low-energy heating is high on safety features

Jaga Heating, LST, space heating
Heating with the emphasis on safety and energy efficiency — Jaga Maxi LST radiators are teamed up with heat pumps at a health centre in Wales.

Heating with a strong emphasis on safety is provided for a new £30 million healthcare development in Merthyr Tydfil by air-source heat pumps teamed up with Jaga’s Max low-surface-temperature and Basic radiators. The Maxi LST was specified for Kier Hardie Health Park for its cool-to-touch protective casing with curved edges to prevent burns or injury for those most vulnerable. Anti-ligature grills were also installed as a further safety measure in areas where patients are particularly vulnerable, such as the mental-health clinic, to help prevent self-harm.

This health park combines community health and GP services, outpatient clinics and therapies, plus mental-health and learning disability services. The 3-storey building covers 100 000 m2 and also includes community dentistry and provides a base for voluntary organisations.

Jaga Basic radiators are installed in a number of private areas throughout the development to provide energy-efficient heating.

Maxi LST and Basic radiators have Low-H2O technology, so they have only a tenth of the water capacity of traditional steel-panel radiators.
