Split-system air conditioning beats noise problems

McQuay has introduced a range of water-source split-system reverse-cycle cooling units that separate the noise-generating compressor from the unit in the room and place it in a separate cabinet that can be located in a service area away from the conditioned room. This approach is well suited to hotels, offices and residential applications. Room units have cooling capacities from 2 to 16 kW and can also provide heating. They are available in four designs. The most popular is expected to be the ceiling-concealed system, which consists of a low-height DX fan-coil unit designed for ducted and free-discharge applications together with a compressor/condensing section using R410A positioned in an adjacent service area. Other room units are wall-mounted, cassette and floor/ceiling convertible. This range can balance the heating and cooling requirements of an entire hotel or office building, while recovering and better using otherwise waste energy. All operations can be monitored and managed through a McQuay Smart central controller. The user can view status, set operating modes and parameters for up to 256 units.
