Keysource cooling for data centre expansion will not use a chiller

Keysource is to provide 100% indirect free cooling for the expansion of the data centre of Petroleum Geo-Services at Weybridge. The approach will take advantage of ambient outside temperatures and not require a chiller.

The expansion will increase the IT load to 2.7 MW, 50% more than the original design. All cooling plant will be outside the building, enabling PGS to maximise the internal rack footprint.

Opened in 2008, the initial phase of this data centre was the first to use the Ecofris adiabatic-dry-cooling solution. It has delivered an annualised PUE (power usage efficiency) of 1.15 since becoming operational.
