Cast-iron above-ground drainage chosen for medical city in Qatar

Saint-Gobain PAM, above ground drainage, cast iron
Cast-iron drainage from Saint-Gobain PAM has been chosen for Hamad Medical City in Qatar for its fire and acoustic properties.

Hamad Medical City in Doha, Qatar, will have its above-ground drainage supplied by 4 km of Saint-Gobain PAM’s Ensign-S cast-iron solution. The product was chosen for its fire-safety and acoustic qualities and is being used in sizes ranging from DN70 to DN150. Cast iron is non-combustible and has excellent acoustic properties.

Good acoustic properties are helped by the use of brackets equipped with noise-insulation dampers to minimise vibration and noise from the supported pipework.

Laurant De Braquilanges of Saint-Gobain PAM, comments, ‘Cast iron provides the perfect solution when considering fire resistance, which we know is of paramount importance to our customer following the Villagio Mall fire in Qatar in 2012.’ 19 people died, including 13 children.
