CHP helps ensure reliable electrical supply for genome research campus
Dalkia is ensuring a reliable and stable power supply for Hinxton Hall Ltd (HHL), a subsidiary of the Wellcome Trust, with the operation and maintenance of a 2 MW(e) CHP unit. The unit will also maximise energy-efficient heat and power production for the facility. HHL provides facilities services to the Wellcome Trust’s human genome research facility.
The Wellcome Trust is one of the biggest medical-funding charities in the world. It has an obligation to advance general scientific and medical awareness. HHL supports the trust’s own research and provides facilities for conferences, seminars and training at the human-genome campus.
HHL has a significant demand for heat and power across the site. In addition, the research facilities demand a stable and uninterrupted supply of electricity to support the delicate processes undertaken.
The CHP unit operations alongside an absorption chiller, modern and efficient ancillary plant, a modular plant room and a cooling tower. Dalkia provides 24-hour surveillance via its service centre and mobile engineer network.
