New speakers announced for the 10-80-10 The Building Services Summit
New speakers have been announced for the 10-80-10 The Building Services Summit* in London on 27 November. They are Deborah Rowland, head of property asset management for the Ministry of Justice, and Russell Forshaw, head of facilities management for Manchester Central.
Deborah Rowland will address the issue of long-term value in facilities management. She previously held a central FM role in the Cabinet Office and developed the FM strategy with the pan-departmental FM board that culminate din the FM central contract model that is now being procured by the Crown Commercial Service. She also leads on Government Soft Landings.
Russell Forshaw will present a case study which looks at the refurbishment of existing buildings to improve energy efficiency.
Steve Harrison, president of the Building Controls Industry Association, which is organising the event with the Building & Engineering Services Association, says, ‘Building-services equipment is responsible for over 80% of energy consumption in commercial buildings. With new technology boosting the capability for energy conservation, it is imperative that users understand this potential and transfer that knowledge into real savings. This is exactly the aim of the Building Services Summit.’

*10-80-10 reflects that 10% of the total lifetime cost of a building is invested at the construction stage, 80% on operating it and 10% on dismantling and demolition.
