VRF air conditioning reaches new heights

VRF unit
Commercial buildings up to nine storeys high are within the capabilities of Toshiba Air Conditioning’s SHRM2 VRF system.
Toshiba’s latest VRF range is a 3-pipe heat-recovery system. The SHRM2 series offers 22 to 84 kW of cooling from a single inverter-driven system and up to 95 kW of heating. R410A is the refrigerant. SHRM2 enables large buildings to be air conditioned by VRF using just a small number of systems. Series 2 is modular and integrates with new or existing Toshiba SMMS 2-pipe systems. The outdoor units are compact enough to fit into a standard lift. Each system can serve up to 48 indoor units, selected from 77 models. The flow selector units that manage different zones are installed in the ceiling. The flexibility of installation provided by piping distances and branching styles means that a typical 9-storey commercial building is within the capability of a single system. 135% diversity is possible. The 8 hp machine has a COP of 3.97, and the 10 hp model has a COP of 3.45. Up to eight indoor units can be controlled from a single controller. Up to 64 units can have central control. There is also the option of full open network control with the ability to interface with a wide range of building-control systems.
