LJJ project helps train the next generation
M&E Services installed by LJJ for the £1.3 million fit-out at East Berkshire College’s Langley campus will enable a new generation of construction and engineering students to experience what it is really like to work on site as part of a campus upgrade at the college.
The new extension, designed by Bond Bryan Architects for construction-related courses, is one of the key features of the project. It comprises a double-height project space that will contain half of a partly constructed bungalow to enable students to practise skills that include plumbing and electrics, while working among other trades.
Geoff Wilson, operations manager with Kier, for which LJJ is working, explains, ‘This is a complex M&E programme in a 1970s-built college for which there was limited information about the existing services layout. LJJ has already demonstrated an ability to address exacting project-management demand like these during a previous project phase.’
