Daikin’s first R32 air-conditioning system in the UK

The first Daikin air-conditioning product using R32 to be installed in the UK is an Emura climate-control system. Daikin D1-approved installed Young Air Conditioning installed the system in a rural barn conversion in Malvern, Worcestershire.

As part of the European phase-down of hydro-fluoro-carbons such as R410A, the global-warming potential of a refrigerant in a system and the quantity used both have to be considered. Daikin is therefore moving toward using R32 on smaller split systems. R32 has a GWP of 675, a third that of R410A. It is also a more efficient refrigerant, so the charge can be smaller for a given cooling capacity.
