Rinnai meets hot-water demands of leisure centre

Rinnai, water heater, DHW

The hot-water solution for a new sports complex in Gloucester, complete with BMX tracks, is provided by two Rinnai HDC1500 heaters with two 300 l buffer vessels on secondary return. The Kingsway Sports Centre has 21 showers serving 15 changing rooms, a meeting room, function rooms, football pitch, rugby pitch, cricket crease, tennis courts and the BMX track.

The system was installed by MIH of Cheltenham.

Adrian Lusty, managing director of MHI, explains that the light weight of these water heaters made them easy to manoeuvre to the plant room on the first floor.

The core temperature of the secondary return system is 42°C during the day, increasing to 60°C when the building is closed to eliminate the risk of legionella bacteria multiplying. By the time the building opens again, the core temperature is back down to 42°C for safe use.
