Jaga delivers heating solution for church refurbishment project

Jaga, space heating, heat emitter, radiator, trench heating

The major renovation of Bridport United Church, which dates from the 19th century, includes a new heating system with heat emitters supplied by Jaga to meet functional, aesthetic and safety requirements. As well as the church itself, there are radiators in the main entrance and a function room.

Having previously collaborated on several projects in the area, consultants Worldwise identified Jaga as the manufacturer that could provide the best all-encompassing radiator specification and supply service.

Justin Vicarage, Jaga’s technical estimator, visited the site before making his recommendations.

Jaga’s Maxi LST Continuous DBE was chosen as the primary heat source for the main area. The radiators are essentially joined together, giving the appearance of one long radiator either side of the main church (see photo). LST casings keep surface temperatures below 43°C, even at maximum output.

The Maxi LST Continuous was specified to provide a minimum output of 65 kW. To provide an extra boost of heat, for example shortly in advance of a service, Dynamic Boost Effect (DBE) fan units were included.

Jaga also provided solutions for the gallery in the church. At the back of the church beneath a large stained single-glazed window, the Mini Canal DBE trench heater was installed into the floor. Mini Freestanding radiators were positioned underneath pews around the edges of the gallery, specified in ‘chocolate brown’ to ensure they were in keeping with the gallery’s rustic wooden appearance.

In the function room, the Guardian LST radiator with a one-piece casing was chosen. The main entrance area has Tempo LST and Maxi LST radiators.

All the radiators have Low-H2O heat-emitter technology. The low water content makes them highly responsive and up to 16% more efficient than a traditional steel-panel radiator.
