Powrmatic brings efficient heat to low-energy warehouse

Powrmatic, space heating, unit heater, destratification

Complementing the high thermal performance of Numatic International’s new goods-in warehouse are Powrmatic NVx suspended warm-air heaters and destratification fans. The four heaters and 12 destratification fans were installed in the 4600 m2 warehouse by MBH Industrial Services of Taunton.

Numatic International manufactures domestic, commercial and industrial vacuum cleaners — including the famous ‘Henry’ — as well as a wide range of more specialised equipment at its 10 ha site in Chard. There are now 20 buildings on the site, most of which use Powrmatic heaters.

Numatic’s property and energy manager Andrew Smith explained, ‘The new building has been designed with a high thermal performance, so the space-heating requirements are relatively low.

‘This, combined with the efficiency of the Powrmatic heaters, enables us to maintain set-point temperatures with just four heaters. The fact that the heaters are manufactured locally at Powrmatic’s factory in Ilminster also helped to minimise the overall environmental impact of the project.’

The new heaters are interfaced to a building management system, along with heaters in other buildings, so that they can be monitored and controlled from a single location.
