Water-cooled chillers achieve high EERs

Daikin
Daikin’s EWWD range of water-cooled chillers offer cooling capacities from 360 to 1100 kW and EERs of up to 8.0 at half load.
Energy-efficiency ratios (EERs) of up to 8.0 can be achieved by the EWWD range of water-cooled chillers from Daikin. This performance is achieved at half load. EERs at full load range from 5.2 to 5.35. Seven sizes of chiller provide cooling capacities from 360 to 1100 kW. Chilled water is supplied at 4 to 16°C with a leaving condenser water temperature of 30 to 50°C. Chilled water can be supplied down to –5°C if required. Much of the high performance is due to the use of Daikin’s GE stepless single-screw compressor with high-efficiency motor and optimised for R134a. Modulating the position of the sliding valve according to chilled-water temperature. Capacity can be controlled down to 25%. The use of single-circuit flooded evaporators delivers a performance some 30% higher than comparable direct-expansion chillers. Overall electronic control is provided by Daikin intelligent adaptive control.
