Non-condensing replacement for cast-iron boilers

Hamworthy Heating has introduced four high-efficiency non-condensing boilers to complement its Purewell VariHeat condensing range. They provide solutions for replacing boilers in constant-temperature circuits operating at 82/71°C and have outputs of 65, 85, 105 and 125 kW. VariHeat HE models are designed to operate with a return temperature 11 K less than the return temperature and can have a minimum return temperature of 50°C. This low return temperature enables some temperature compensation to be provided directly on the boiler. They can replace traditional cast-iron atmospheric boilers and occupy the same space — but provide higher outputs and superior efficiency. The seasonal efficiency is up to 91% gross, exceeding the 84% required by the latest Building Regulations. The cast-iron primary heat exchanger has a downward-firing pre-mix burner, and there is no need for a secondary heat exchange. Boiler can be installed singly or in multiple installations of up to six boilers. Factory-tested pipe kits for two, three or four boilers are offered, which include valves to isolate individual boilers and headers with ample connection for instrumentation and controls sensors.
