Victaulic brings space-saving innovation to fire-protection systems

Victaulic’s FireLock NXT range of pre-action devices for fire-protection systems is quick and easy to install and is said to offer the smallest sizes in the industry. There are five valves: dry; alternate (wet/dry), wet, deluge and pre-action. The alternate valve is rated at 16 bar, and the rest of the range is rated at 21 bar. With an integral patented low-pressure actuator, all NXT devices operate at a common 0.9 bar, regardless of application, owing to an eliminated air-to-water differential, ensuring the faster delivery of water to sprinkler systems. Each valve has a preset air supervisory switch to reduce installation time and eliminate human error. The small size is due to the innovative diaphragm design, the single-piece design of the air-feed manifold and combined check valve, strainer and restrictor as well as the reduced size of the air compressor. The number of moving parts has been reduced by attention to design detail. Not only does the Firelock NXT approach provide wet and dry functionality in a single valve, but it also requires the adjustment of only three valves to drain and repressurise the system for warm or cold weather.
