Priva’s open approach to control reduces costs

The capabilities of Priva’s IP-addressable controllers have enabled the IT network of the College of St Mary Magdalene in Cambridge to be used to gather data relating to services for a new building. Geoff Collacott of PA Collacott, which installed the system, explains, ‘By using the existing IT network for building-services communications, we have been able to save cost in engineering time and eliminate much of the hardwiring found in traditional control systems. A Compri HX8E controller manages the heating system and provides a direct link to an air-handling unit that uses the Modbus protocol. From the outset, Priva has promoted an open-protocol policy, leading to outstanding communications possibilities and compatible with a wide range of communications protocols.
