An agreement to develop and promote commissioning within the construction industry has been signed by the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers and the Commissioning Specialists Association. The signing of this memorandum of understanding builds on previous work and provides shared access to member benefits and services. Stephen Matthews, CIBSE’s chief executive, says, ‘CIBSE is delighted to be working with the CSA to promote commissioning functions within the construction industry. This agreement will allow our organisations to better understand the way in which we can work together to promote and develop excellence. “Providing shared access to web sites, some journals, information and events will ensure members from both institutions remain informed of developments which affect the way they operate.’ Roger Carlin, chairman of CSA, says, ‘The CSA is proud to be associated with the UK’s foremost body in the building-services field. The current concern over climate change and carbon emissions highlights the need for commissioning to be carried out correctly. This memorandum illustrates our shared commitment to raising standards and awareness within the industry.’
