Liverpool’s newest concert venue has its cable-management requirements met by systems supplied by Legrand. Designed by architects Wilkinson Eyre, the Arena & Convention Centre is being built in time for Liverpool’s year as European Capital of Culture in 2008. It comprises a 10 600-capacity arena and an adjoining convention centre with a 1350-seat auditorium, a 3725 m2 multi-purpose hall and a further 18 meeting rooms. Building work is being managed by Bovis Lend Lease. The project will include of 7 km of hot-dipped galvanised tray and 5 km of lighting and multiple-compartment power trunking. A range of cable ladder has also been supplied. Legrand’s standard floor boxes were specially redesigned to include a reinforced flush floor unit that can accept specialist floor covering in the public gallery. Roger Sharples of electrical contractor Haden Young comments, ‘Legrand provides the most comprehensive range of solutions available in the UK, and so it was no surprise that they were the only company able to met our needs for a system comprising ladder, tray, trunking and specially reinforced floor units.’
