The new building of Doncaster College is a showcase of lighting equipment from Cooper Lighting & Security.
The scope of Cooper Lighting & Security’s lighting product range is reflected in the installation for the £65 million waterfront campus of Doncaster College. The Hub, as it is known, offers many state-of-the-art educational facilities. They include a 100-seat lecture theatre, a 200-seat drama studio, a 2-storey learning centre and facilities for catering, leisure and sports. The various lighting schemes devised by Cooper Lighting & Security working with main contractor NG Bailey used 14 different products from the Crompton Lighting range of commercial and industrial luminaires, along with a selection of Menvier and JSB self-testing exit signs and emergency luminaires. Classrooms are lit by Synthesis or Wafer T5 suspended fluorescent luminaires, both of which provide a combination of direct and indirect lighting to the latest design standards. Illumination for laboratories is provided by Moduseal IP65 modular recessed fluorescent luminaires. Lecture theatres use the Clareo range of pendant architectural downlights. Public areas and atria are lit by Reef wall-mounted uplighters and Solstar compact fluorescent downlights. Plant and maintenance areas are served by the Tufflite range of IP65 luminaires and a number of Zone II florescent luminaires. Emergency lighting includes Menview recessed Safe Edge and JSB Royalux exit signs, along with Menvier New Safe 8 self-contained 8 W T5 luminaires and Menvier Beamlite twin-spot luminaires. To speed up installation, luminaires were supplied prewired with cable and connectors of the customer’s choice.
