Tuffa tanks to the rescue

Tuffa

As part of the renovation of the fire station at Hove by East Sussex Fire & Rescue Services, a Tuffa Firestop 10 000 litre tank was installed to serve the heating system. It replaces an old steel tank that was inside the building.

As the new tank includes fireproofing within its double skin, the only builder’s work that was required to meet the requirements of Building Regulations was a new concrete base.

The fire resistance is provided by a 3-layer sandwich of fire-resistant and insulating material between the tank and an outer cover to give a warranted and tested fire resistance of 30 to 60 min. The tank also includes contents gauges and an overfill alarm within its cover and was installed by Roseland Heating of Eastbourne.
