Actulite makes headlines at Leicester Mercury

Actulite polarised daylight lighting is being widely installed in the offices of the Leicester Mercury newspaper following its success during refurbishment work. This lighting was originally installed while staff were cocooned inside a temporary screen for six months while the exterior of the building was being refurbished — with lack of daylight causing morale problems. The company’s building-services manager, Carl Prickett, recalled that he had once successfully tried Actulite lighting in his own office and suggested that it be installed along the line of the screens covering the windows to give the impression of daylight where natural light would normally have been. The emission of light that is virtually identical to natural daylight is achieved using the patented Actulite multi-layered polarising panel, high-frequency control gear and specially manufactured tri-phosphor full-spectrum fluorescent tubes. The suggestion worked and was well received by the newspaper’s staff. Since completion of the refurbishment work, more parts of the building have had Actulite daylight lighting installed, with the intention of further additions.
