Simple kit tests carbon-monoxide detectors

Detectagas has launched a simple way of testing carbon-monoxide detectors. It is available as a professional version for gas installers and plumbers and a domestic kit to enable householders to carry out their own tests. A specially formulated aerosol exposes a carbon-monoxide detector to a pulse of calibrated test gas. A hood is fitted over the detector, and a measured amount of test gas introduced. If the alarm does not sound within three minutes, the maximum sample interval for a sensor, the sensor has failed, and a new alarm is required.
