Riegens adapts lighting fittings to include return-air path
Lighting for the prestigious office development at 33 Cavendish Square in London’s West End is provided by Riegens slim-line flush-mounted luminaires with an integrated return-air path.
The depth of the ceiling void averages 285 mm and accommodates a very slim 4-pipe fan-coil system designed by consulting engineers Hilson Moran. The design team recognised the potential of the Riegens Cirrus suspended fitting and asked Riegens to come up with a recessed version with air handling. The bespoke luminaire was developed as a collaboration between ORMS, Hilson Moran and Riegens.
Three floors have been refurbished using DALI luminaires with two 28 W lamps. They have micro-prism panels, dedicated back reflectors and diffuser films to prevent glare. Low-energy lamps and dimmable DALI-controllable ballasts contribute to high energy efficiency.
Hilson Moran comments, ‘We do not believe that a high-level services installation, including both fan-coil units and lighting, has been achieve before in such a shallow ceiling void. The Riegens light fitting, coming in at 55 mm deep overall, played an essential part in achieving this.’
