Vulcathene enrols at Clifton College
The complete overhaul of the Science School at Clifton College in Bristol includes the installation of Vulcathene Mechanical pipework in sizes up to 73 mm for the chemical drainage requirements of the 14 chemistry and physics laboratories. The £1.1 million refurbishment has seen the existing 3-storey building stripped out and replaced with upgraded facilities, including new electricity and cabling networks, IT systems, modern fitted furniture and state-of-the-art laboratories.
The new drainage replaces an existing Vulcathene chemical drainage system. However, the old pipework carried the waste into troughs under the floor, whereas the updated system safely disposes of effluent outside the building.
The product was chosen for its proven track record for chemical drainage. Kevin Skuse from installer Cook & Harris explains, ‘Vulcathene was the existing system in place, and it had delivered exceptional performance levels over the years it was in use, so it was the obvious choice to specify if for the upgraded facilities.’
